TOPIC: Jesus, The Door of Salvation

TEXTJohn 10:1-10(NKJV)

STUDY: A story is told about an event during World War I. Some Turkish soldiers tried to steal a flock of sheep from a hillside near Jerusalem. The shepherd, who had been sleeping woke up to find his flock being driven off. He could not recapture them by force, so he called out his flock with his distinctive call.

The sheep heard, and returned to their owner. The soldiers could not stop them from returning. In our text today, Jesus proclaimed himself the Good Shepherd. He is the only one that the sheep hears His voice, for He calls them by name and leads them to sweet pastures. Jesus also declared Himself the Door to the Sheep pen.

Those who enter through Him find rest for their souls. Peter affirmed that salvation can only be received through him (Acts 4:12John 14:6). There are also bad shepherds, who come to steal and lead the flock astray (Isa. 56.9-12Ezek. 34.823).As the Door, Jesus delivers sinners from bondage and leads them into freedom.

When you go through “the Door”, you are guaranteed salvation, safety and abundant life in Him. In order not to be misled, we must learn to distinguish the voice of the Good Shepherd from that of strangers – thieves, and robbers. We must allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit always.

PRAYER: Lord, please give me the grace to discern your voice from all other voices.
