TOPIC:  Wise But Foolish

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 3:19-23

KEY VERSE:
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” – (1 Corinthians 3:19).

DCLM Daily Manna Friday 30 September 2022 OUTLINE

As valuable as rubies are, the Bible tells us that wisdom is far better and more valuable. No earthly treasure can compare to the wisdom God gives. Despite the fact that Solomon was a very wise king whose wisdom came from God, he fell into foolish acts when he deviated from the instructions of the Lord.

Solomon breached God’s commandments on marriage. He married seven hundred wives and had three hundred concubines, most of whom were of heathen nations that God forbade Israel to marry. Thereafter, he started building shrines for those wives where they burnt incense to their strange gods.

The wisdom of men is foolishness before God, who knows the vanity of their thoughts and deeds. We are, therefore, admonished not to “glory in men”. Believers’ faith must not stand in the wisdom of men, because the wisdom of this world and its princes will come to nought.

MFM Daily Devotional 30 September 2022 – Wise Use of Time And The Preparation for Eternity

God desires that men should have the true wisdom, which makes them think of the brevity of life and of an endless eternity. Today, most people are preoccupied with worldly achievements, which is in line with Bible prophecy that knowledge shall increase at the end of time. Many remarkable feats have been attained in science and technology, space explorations, medicine, etc. However, all these seem to be leading people away from the true wisdom of seeking God and His ways.

The worldly-wise who do not seek the true wisdom of God will lose out at the end of time. Those who are wise today are those who seek Jesus. Have you sought Him? Have you found Him? Sinners can find Him through repentance and faith in His atoning blood.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Worldly wisdom only leads to a regrettable end.
