TOPIC: Fulfil Your Ministry

TEXT: LUKE 4:33-44
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

DCLM Daily Manna 4 March 2024 MESSAGE

An American hero, Timothy Stackpole, was among the first to reach Ground Zero after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on World Trade Centre, New York. He led a team that ran into the second tower to rescue victims after it was struck. When he did, it collapsed and took his life. He knew his calling – to save people.

The story of Stackpole, moving and inspiring as it is cannot be compared with the eternally- rewarding service we have signed up to as believers. Irrespective of the attendant danger that we might face, we must always remember that we have been called to a life of service and like a true soldier depicted in the song, “It pays to serve Jesus,” we must be willing to die at our post.

The exemplary life and ministry of Christ as narrated in our passage shows His total devotion and absolute commitment to healing and deliverance ministry. His exploits in casting out devils and healing the sick spread like wild fire. Soon, the surrounding villages brought their sick to Him and He healed them all. As His popularity grew, the people wanted Him to stay in their community as a miracle worker. But Christ insisted He must travel to other parts of Palestine to preach in fulfilment of His ministry. He refused to be distracted when they wanted Him to become an economic messiah. He refused to be crowned King by the people; instead, he focused on His ministry of preaching to save the world.

The desire to make ends meet has moved many out of their God-appointed ministry to other pursuits in life. This leads to a loss of direction and purpose. We need to return to God’s purpose in life for us. Have you discovered the purpose for your living? Are you willing and ready to pay the price to fulfil that purpose?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A purpose-driven life produces amazing results in life and ministry.
