One Sister Wendy Lee, in her thanksgiving testimony, spoke about how God saw her through a life-threatening surgery from a brain aneurysm (a balloon-like bulge on a blood vessel due to weakness in the vessel wall). She said if left untreated, it may rupture, resulting in possible stroke or death with about 30 percent chance of complete recovery. To be brief, the Lord provided good neurosurgeon who performed a successful surgery. Grateful to the Lord, she said, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not…” (Lamentations 3:22).

We must resolve never to allow the enemy close our mouth and deprive us of the blessing in thanksgiving. In our text, the Psalmist gave thanksgiving for deliverance from death. He was delivered from death as a result of sickness. In verse 16, he talked about “loosed my bonds”. Believers must cultivate the habit of praising God for His wonderful works in their lives. When God helps us in times of challenges, it should draw us closer to Him.

Every individual carries within, the key that unlocks either the door of success or the door of failure. That key is attitude. One’s attitude can make or mar one’s chances of obtaining victory. In essence, an attitude that scoffs at the desired thanksgiving to God does not make way for more blessings upon an individual.

Therefore, we must not allow the enemy to deny us the inestimable possibilities that thanksgiving brings.
