Love is expected to be one of the strongest factors in the marriage relationship. Our passage today defines the power of true love. It is strong, unquenchable, indestructible, boundless and priceless. It is not cold and lifeless. It burns in practical expression. Like a burning flame, it consumes anything that stands on its way. Love is unstoppable. It cannot be hidden or curtailed by anything neither can it be bought at any price.

Unfortunately, many people love for the wrong reason. Most are merely emotional outburst and feelings which are mostly unstable. Some may be due to the physical outlook of the person or for wealth and other material gains. But all these do not last as true love transcends far above them. If our marriages are going to last long and be truly enjoyed and not merely endured, what we need is true love.

That is the kind of love that Jesus calls us to have for one another. The depraved heart is not capable of loving this much. There is need for regeneration and sanctification of the heart for the love of God to be truly shed abroad in the heart before we can have and display this highest degree of love.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Love is the most powerful force in the world.
