HOW BIG IS YOUR DADDY?

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?
Jeremiah 32:27

The midnight storm was raging on the Sea of Galilee. Peter, James, John and the rest of the disciples were rowing… and bailing… and sweating… and fearing. Nothing was working. They were caught in the perfect storm. The water was coming in faster than they could bail it out. They were convinced they were going under. Where was Jesus? Where on earth was Jesus in their crisis? He was asleep in the back of the boat. ASLEEP! WOW!

The disciples were out of options. They decided it was best to wake Him and let Him know they were all going to die. They cried, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Once awakened, Jesus rebuked the wind and calmed the sea by the power of His word. He then turned to the disciples and said, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?” OUCH! Talk about failing the test of the storm.

THE STORMS OF LIFE

I can surely relate to the disciples, can’t you? Our faith often gets weak when the storms of life start raging. How quickly we tend to think we are going down when are lives fill up with trouble. How quickly we believe the lie that God does not care about us (“Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”). How quickly we look at the bad circumstances and fail to factor in the God who spoke the worlds into existence. Listen, universes drip from His fingertips. That is the unfathomable power He possesses… and yet, like the disciples, we let problems drive away our faith and fill our hearts with fear.

JESUS IS ABLE

Perhaps you are facing a big storm right now in your life. Perhaps your boat is filling up and just about to go under. Perhaps your faith is like the disciples: failing. What can you do? Face your storm in the light of the Lord Jesus. Continue to remind yourself of the truth:

He cares for you. Your Lord has nail scars in His hands and feet. He loves you that much. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us, “Cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.”

He is far greater than your problems. He is able to take the worst storm and shut it down with just a word. As the song says, “Sometimes He calms the storm, and sometimes He calms His child.” Either way, He is able to bring calm to your situation. He is the Prince of Peace.
Your storms cannot drown you when Jesus is in your boat. He is Lord over every storm. He controls everything about every storm. Nothing is ever out of His control.

He wants you and me to simply trust Him. Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

In your storm, do not speak words of doubt and fear and despair… speak words of victory and praise and faith. Your God is able. Your Daddy is HUGE!!!! If He can raise four-day-old dead Lazarus from the grave, He can do anything!! He can break that drug addiction that is ruining your life and the lives of those around you… He can break that sinful habit that has had you bound for decades… He can take that disease and speak it into oblivion… He can take that wayward child and turn him around… He can restore a dead marriage and fill calloused hearts with His love. There is nothing too difficult for Him, so believe Him and cling to Him, regardless of the storm.
