MFM Daily Devotional 11 July 2024

TOPIC:  Crucified With Christ

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 99; Psalms 100; Psalms 101; Philippians 1; Philippians 2

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Philippians 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

MEMORY VERSE
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES: I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP:
Take praise and worship songs as led by the Holy Spirit.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: The death of Christ shall not be in vain over your life, in the name of Jesus.

MFM Daily Devotional 11 July 2024 MESSAGE

The word “crucify” denotes a kind of death where the criminal is nailed to a wooden object. But it became an important word in Christianity because our Lord and Saviour, Jesus, was crucified on the cross along with criminals.

Though He committed no sins, He died for our sake. This death on the cross, the crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, gave it a new and deeper meaning than we can imagine.

A crucified life, therefore, no longer refers to a criminal nailed to judgment, but a surrendered life like that of Jesus – a life where you no longer have a will of your own but that of your Master. Jesus surrendered His life to die as a ransom for all, by denying Himself the rights and privileges of Sonship. He went all the way to Calvary and died on the cruel Cross, alongside criminals while He never committed any sins. This was total surrender! This was a crucified life!

A life where He lost His voice, not to contest against the divine will. He had no choice but to conform to the heavenly verdict. He suffered and bled for the sins of men. He couldn’t prove innocence. Rather, He accepted all blame. He died like a victim and a scapegoat but all was to the glory of the Father. He came, lived and died according to the will of His heavenly Father, the Lord God Almighty.

Jesus said several times in scriptures, that He had not come to do His own will but that of He who sent Him. He was referring to God, the Father. Let us not forget that He and His Father are one.

Jesus taught us the act of surrender, total obedience, commitment and faithfulness to the One who sent Him on the mission of redemption of mankind. If Jesus did, you and me can do the same, by living a life that is crucified. A life that is dead in Christ and arisen in Him as a new being. A life that is doing the Master’s will at all cost and all the time.

Romans 8:6-8 says that a carnal man cannot understand the things of the Spirit, neither can he please God. Do you desire to please God? Strive to live a crucified life and not a carnal life!
