MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SUNDAY 13TH JUNE 2021 WRITTEN BY PASTOR D.K OLUKOYA

TOPIC: HEALING FROM THE WOUNDS OF SELF-GUILT (II)

Fire Scripture: Rom.8:1-17

MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE:
Self-guilt is self-torture. Inability to take time enough to pray and meditate on issues, no matter the seriousness of it, has caused many people to end up as emotional wrecks. This emotional stress leads to strange illnesses, and make people spiritually disconnected from God. Imagine this true life scenario between a man and his wife: The husband stormed out of the house in anger, after a hot argument between both of them.

She went about doing her normal house chores, having put behind her the whole episode. Not too long, she got a call that she was needed at the hospital because her husband had an accident on his way to work. She couldn’t believe her ears! What happened? Many questions were racing through her mind. Then the guilt trip: “Maybe I was the cause! Had I known, I would have avoided the misunderstanding argument in the morning. I got him all upset. I am the cause!”

No amount of counsel could convince her otherwise. Unfortunately, her husband, now in coma could not help calm her mind and free her of this self-blame and self condemnation. Not even her pastor and children! She got so much consumed with self-guilt, and ended up in a condition that was worse than her husband’s.

She could not think of other possible causes of that accident. Many persons are in this same condition of self-guilt. They are suffering from situations over which they have no control, and continue to suffer from a self imposed judgement. It is a deception and lie of the enemy to turn a person against himself, and eventually subject himself to self-torture and self-destruction.

Self-guilt, if not handled with godly counsel, will create emotional wounds which may affect the entire wellbeing of the person. Inability to forgive oneself is a negative spirit indeed! It could degenerate into self-hate, suicidal thoughts and eventually, suicide if left unchecked as it happened to Judas who betrayed Jesus Christ our Lord.

Self-guilt is evil, a manifestation of the works of the flesh. God detests it, and all who practise it. Connect to the truth of God’s word and enjoy His peace and love for you.

Memory Verse: Gal.5:1 – Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Motivational Quote: Guilt is toxic and cuts like a knife. It results in self harm. Stop blaming yourself over things you cannot control. Forgive yourself and others. Hand the burden over to God and experience divine freedom.

Prophetic Word: Whatever is preventing you from enjoying the fullness of God’s love and goodness in your life is hereby terminated, , in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: Cleansing Fountain

1. There is a fountain filled with blood Drawn from Immanuel’s veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood Loose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains,
Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains.

2. The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day,
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away:
Wash all my sins away,
Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.

3. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow’r,
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more:
Be saved to sin no more,
Be saved to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more.
