MFM Daily Devotional 21 November 2021 Outline

The sixth letter went to the church at Philadelphia. It was a faithful church that lived by Christ’s word and did not deny Him. They endured opposition from society and resisted conforming to the ungodly trends of other churches. This church pleased Christ because they remained loyal to Him and the truth of the gospel.

Because of their continued faithfulness, God opened doors unto them that no one could shut and made their enemies to bow before them. He also promised to rescue them from the hour of temptation. Philadelphia is a Greek name which means the city of brotherly love. The city was founded mainly to spread Greek culture and language to the surrounding cities.

Their main problem was drunkenness. The people cultivated grapes, which made wine very cheap and readily available. Therefore it was not unusual to find people already drunk in the morning. Beloved, it was in this kind of environment that the Philadelphia church served God and remained faithful to Him. They did not rely on their strength to go through the trials to come; Christ would reward their faithfulness with His own power and faithfulness.

One of the ways the church and individual Christians can remain faithful is to follow the example of the Philadelphia church. Are you faithful to your calling in Christ? Remember that you are called and saved to save others. The Philadelphia church was a missionary church.

They preached the word in and out of season. Follow the example of their faithfulness and it shall be well with you. It is noteworthy also that the Philadelphia church reaped great rewards from the Royal master and Lord for their faithfulness, love for the word of God and for not denying His name in the midst of their ungodly society and crooked generation.

The Lord admonished them to hold fast the blessings heaven had bestowed on them and let no one take their crown. This calls for prayer, watchfulness and vigilance. I encourage you to emulate the Philadelphia church and you will reap great benefits as well.

Motivational Quote
It is hard to defeat a person who never gives up.

Prophetic Word
You shall get to your Promised Land, no matter the opposition you face, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: Safe in the arms of Jesus
1. Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’er shaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! ’tis the voice of angels,
Borne in a song to me,
Over the fields of glory,
Over the jasper sea.

Chorus
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’er shaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
2. Safe in the arms of Jesus,

Safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world’s temptations,
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,
Free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials,
Only a few more tears!

3. Jesus, my heart’s dear refuge,
Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages,
Ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience,
Wait till the night is o’er;
Wait till I see the morning
Break on the golden shore.
