MFM Daily Devotional 5 July 2024 MESSAGE

Being desperate means not being ready to take no for an answer. It could also mean a situation where an individual is resolute in his or her mind to forge ahead and there is no looking back. It is a demonstration of strong determination and focus. A situation of “I must get it at all costs.”

However, some people may choose to give in, believing that all hope is lost and no good thing can be further achieved. But for those who believe in God, that is the moment to cry out for divine help, and God will surely answer.

Today’s Fire Scripture tells us in a few words about a man who was born into sorrow and named thus. His name was Jabez. But he refused to remain and wallow in sorrow. He decided to get out of his situation and be better than his brethren. He was desperate for survival and for success despite his despicable situation.

He cried out to God in prayer and God answered him and granted him all his prayers. Amazing! God can hear you as you cry out too in the name of Jesus.

It is important to note that Jabez did not sit down to complain. Rather, with holy desperation, he decided to make a change and be better than others at all costs.

The cost was crying out to God in prayer and doing so desperately. He outlined his desires before God in four specific prayer points and God in His infinite mercies attended to all. Jabez asked the following of God

  1. That God should bless him indeed. The blessing that Jabez asked for carried a description that makes it unique “indeed”. It means a blessing that people will see and acknowledge that this is from the Lord.
  2. That God should enlarge his coast. Having been blessed, he didn’t want to remain small. He prayed for continuous blessing – that his coast be enlarged.
  3. That God’s hands should be upon him
  4. That God keeps him from evil so that he won’t be grieved. God answered Jabez. Hence, we could see a change in his situation.

Beloved, the God who answered the prayers of Jabez can answer your prayers too. You only need to get more desperate.

1. O God, that delivered Jabez, arise and deliver me in Your mercy, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, I need a change; visit me by Your power, in the name of Jesus.
3. I refuse to wallow in sorrow; 0 God, arise and turn my sorrow to joy, in the name of Jesus.

4. As I cry out to You, O Lord, let my life receive a new touch, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father Lord, bless me indeed and enlarge my coast, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father, this is my situation …. ( mention it), arise and deliver me, in the name of Jesus.
7. I receive a divine turnaround and become a living testimony, in the name of Jesus.
