TOPIC:  Faith Versus Unbelief

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11:1-6
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Faith is indispensable for a successful walk as a Christian. The verse above says that we cannot please God without faith. It is those who believe that God gives power, not the doubters.

In Ephesians 6:16, the Bible enjoins us to above all, take the shield of faith, wherewith we shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Without faith, your spiritual armour is incomplete. Jesus asked if He would find faith when He returned. We would rather see reasons to have faith than just hope. Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” When the disciples of Jesus could not heal a little boy suffering from epilepsy. Jesus said they had no faith.

They later asked that He should increase their faith. What is your challenge, beloved? Are your friends looking down on you because you are living a holy life? Are you feeling incapable of handling responsibilities given to you in church, school or at home? Maybe God is already telling you what He wants you to do but you feel like you do not have the courage to begin. Have faith in God! Do not permit doubt and fear to stop you.

Perhaps, you have been asking the Lord for a testimony over a particular issue and it has been days, weeks months and years, do not lose faith. James 1:3 says that the trying of your faith works patience. God does not come late and He never fails. If He promised you a blessing or miracle, you will surely testify, as long as you do not lose faith.

Many Israelites suffered because of their unbelief. They missed the Promised Land even though they came out of Egypt with so much glory. For you to have faith, your actions and words must agree. You cannot claim to have faith and be filled with complaints and grumbling. Unbelief is a sin and it can hinder the believer from eternal rest.
