Topic: Paul Prays For The Believers

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you order my steps today through your word as I meditate on it.

ScriptureEphesians 1:15 – 23

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

• Is there any prayer for me to remember?
Our concern for the people we lead in fellowship, in church, or in the family will motivate us to pray for them to be established in God. This was the burden of Paul. Every Christian needs to address it if we must expand God’s Kingdom on earth. Paul first commended the faith and love of the believers (v.15).

How often do you put aside criticism and commend the little effort of the people around you? Reflect on the two main areas of Paul’s prayer concern for the growing church (vs.17-22). First, he prayed for the confirmation of God’s purpose in the believers (vs.17,18).

He asked God to grant them spiritual wisdom and insight to grow in their knowledge of God. We too must pray for our inner eyes to be opened so we fully understand God’s purpose for our lives. Next, Paul prays for the knowledge of the greatness of God’s power for the believer (vs.19-22), demonstrated in the resurrection of Christ. This knowledge generates in us faith to overcome in every circumstance. God has provided resources for us to excel in Christian living; His Word and His Spirit. We only need to hold on to them to actualize God’s purpose and power in and through us.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Father, I thank you for giving me a position of victory through the knowledge of your Son, Jesus.

• Thank God and pray for Scripture Union (SU), Children Evangelism Ministry (CEM) and other specialized ministries to Children and youths.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Isaiah 55:8-9; 2 Chron. 34-36; Luke 11 :29-54
