Topic: The Master Potter

Scripture: “So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. The vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as seemed good to him.” – Jeremiah 18:2, NIV

Message: This is one of my favourite Scriptures, for it typifies the whole work of Ellel Ministries for these past thirty-five years. From day one of the ministry people have walked through the doors of Ellel Grange and our other centres, their lives so often being living examples of clay that has been spoiled on the wheel of life. Their sufferings, hurts, sins and wounds exposed as, in their desperation and evident need, they have stretched out their hands to the ‘Master Potter`, asking Him to restore and remake their life.

Deep wounds, lifelong pain, sufferings of abuse, or the consequences of taking the wrong roads or making wrong relationships have all been brought to Him. Time and time again we have watched in amazement as He has cleaned the ‘clay’ of impurities, put it back on His wheel and lovingly reshaped the vessel so that, however few or many years there may be left, their life is restored within the purposes of God.

I never cease to be inspired, blessed and encouraged by the testimonies of those who share with us what God has done in the weeks, months and subsequent years. But, while the joy of lives transformed is great, there is always the tinge of grief at how many people in our churches go to a service week by week, but don’t know that our Saviour is not just preparing a mansion for each of His children in Heaven, but longs for people to humbly face reality in their lives and stretch out their hands to Him.

The words Jesus spoke, “Come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28) were not just intended to be nice words, over-printed on a beautiful picture and mounted on a wall. They were a living invitation to do just that.

May I encourage you to look to the Master Potter, bring all your burdens to Him and trust Him to guide and direct your steps.

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, that, as the Master Potter, you specialise in rebuilding broken lives. I come to You today and invite You to show me the way You want me to go and how to receive Your healing love in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
