Topic: What Are You Expecting?

Scripture: “And Elijah said unto Ahab, get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.” 1 Kings 18:41 KJV

TREM Daily Devotional 14 December 2021 Message:

In 1 Kings 18, there was apostasy in the land and Elijah’s spirit was vexed because of what he was seeing. He decided to stand for God so he confronted King Ahab and told him that there would be no rain in the land until he changed his mind. You know the details of how he confronted the prophets of Baal. After he had dealt with them, he prepared the altar. The land was still dry because there was no evidence of rain in the land.

Yet in the midst of dryness, Elijah said to Ahab: “get thee up, eat and drink for there is a sound of abundance of rain.” Where are you going to eat and drink when there are challenges already on ground? Water was scarce; yet, he spoke out his faith. If you don’t guard whatever you say from your mouth, then whatever you get, don’t blame anybody. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. A child of God or anyone who wants to attain the height that God has set for him or her, must be willing to look at contradictory evidence and speak what he is expecting. Do not change your confession in the face of contrary situations.

Elijah had holy audacity! The land was dry, but he dared to stand out among the rest of the prophets in that very town. Every other person might have heard the sound of lack, failure, sickness and disappointment, but Elijah heard something different- an abundance of rain; not abundance of shower but abundance of rain. A deluge! Heavy duty!

Beloved, what are you expecting? You may not have been able to pay your bills for the past years, but does that change your confession? Are you in the company of those who are just expecting handout? The God that you and I serve is able to launch you from not being able to sign anything into a billionaire status. Believe; God can do it!
