TOPIC: From Death to Life
TEXT: John 5:17-24 (KJV)
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
KEY VERSE
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
(John 5:24)
DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 5 November MESSAGE
The Bible identifies two classes of the whole race of man and their different quests. One group, the Jews, spends their days and resources seeking a sign to eternal life. The other, the Greeks (representing those who are not Israelites) want wisdom to lead them to life. They both believe they have chosen the right path to guide them.
They miss the point, according to our Lord Jesus Christ. Neither the works of man nor the sign or any wisdom not founded on faith in the finished work of Christ can deliver complete dominion and eternal life. What He came to do was not a personal project. It was ordained by God the Father. He declares persuasively, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life”.

The doctrines and philosophies man has been exploring with enormous investment in order to enjoy life here and hereafter have brought misery and death instead. But with far less input, we can possess what we have been missing as contained in the pages of the Bible. They teach that we do not need to struggle or be like the Jews and the Greeks.
As God sent Christ to point out the truth that man can pass from death to life, the Christian is also appointed to the duty of letting his fellow man come to the liberating knowledge that no longer must he see himself as a “wretched man” forever chained to the “body of…death”. Christ has paid it all. His saving grace is free and full. Today, Christ is willing to accept those who come to Him in faith, totally yielded. For such, eternal redemption is theirs for the asking.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Christ is the Walkway from death to life.
