Topic: Be Anxious For Nothing
TOPIC: Be Anxious For Nothing
TEXT: Matthew 6:25-34 (NKJV)
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one [a]cubit to his [b]stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [c]arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Anglican Daily Fountain Devotional 7 February 2022 MESSAGE
Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God.”(Phil. 4:6). Anxiety is the feeling of worry, nervousness or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. It is the brain’s way of reacting to stress and alerting you of potential danger ahead.
People feel fearful or nervous when going to job interviews, before taking a test, when they experience a delay in marrying or childbirth, over sickness, wealth and properties, assuming some positions in life, academic achievements and of course, what to eat, drink and put on.
The Bible tells us that only one thing is needful (Luke 10:42) and that is, “seek ye first the kingdom of God…and all these things shall be added unto you” (v.33). Our heavenly Father knows that we have need of these things. Are we not better than the lilies and grass of the field or the sparrows? Yet God clothes and feeds them. When we worry it shows our faith is weak. We should cast our cares upon him for he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
Make your worries and concern known to God in humility and His peace that passes all understanding shall be your portion.
Let’s sing together:
Why wory when you can pray; Trust in Jesus and he will lead the way
Don’t be a doubting Thomas, Just yea on his promise
Why worry, worry, worry, when you can pray?
PRAYER: Prayer: Help me dear God to cast my worries and burdens on you because you care for me.
