DCLM Daily Manna 8th July 2021 Deeper Life Devotional By Pastor W.F Kumuyi
Topic: Prophecy Fulfilled
TEXT: Luke 4:15-22
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
KEY VERSE: “And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” – (Luke 4:21)
DCLM Daily Manna 8th July 2021 Devotional MESSAGE:
For many years, the children of Israel had read the prophecies concerning the first advent of the Messiah in the Scriptures. Many had eagerly looked forward to witnessing the fulfilment of the prophecies. However, to some people, it appeared as if the prophecy existed only on the pages of the Bible and might not translate into a reality. Their delusion made them ignorant of the fulfilment of the prophecy concerning the arrival of the expected Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.
From the text, the age-long prophecy became fulfilled. The Messiah that was long awaited suddenly appeared in the temple. As Christ read the passage, all eyes were fastened on him. He pointedly told them that “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” The people knew that the application Jesus made was to Himself but they could only accept Him as a good teacher but not as the Messiah.
Despite outstanding miracles that took place by the hand of Jesus Christ at Capernaum, the unbelief of the people of Nazareth robbed them of many heart-breaking miracles. The Scripture cannot be broken; everything that God has ever spoken will certainly come to pass. Heaven and earth shall pass away but a jot of God’s word will not pass unfulfilled. Do not lose faith and hope in the fulfilment of His promises for your life because God is able to accomplish whatever He has promised to do.
As the prophecies concerning Jesus were all fulfilled, likewise the prophecy of His second coming will soon be fulfilled. To be ready for the Lord’s return, you need to make personal preparation. Repentance, restitution, holy living, soul-winning, watchfulness and prayer are all inevitable indices of our preparation to making rapture when the Lord returns to take His people home.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every prophecy in God’s word will be fulfilled.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Kings 16-17
