TOPIC: Dry Bone Can Rise Again

TEXT: EZEKIEL 37:1-11
37 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

DCLM Daily Manna 19 Jan 2024 Message

There are so many things that look hopeless and irreversible to man. The normal reaction to such is to foreclose the possibility of a change and just accept the situation as a fate that can never be changed. Today’s passage shows the hand of God on Prophet Ezekiel, whom He takes through a sweeping overview of the spiritual condition of Israel in their backslidden state. God brought Ezekiel to a valley of dry bones and asked him if he thought the bones could live again.

He responded by saying only God knows. Then God commanded him to prophesy to the bones so that they could live. As Ezekiel prophesied in obedience to the word of God, suddenly, there was a noise, then a shaking and the pieces of bones began to join. Soon after, sinews and flesh came upon the bones and a skin covered them. Ezekiel then prophesied to the wind as he was commanded by God and breath came into the hitherto comatose bodies. Life came into them; they stood upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

The term “dry bone”, has spiritual and physical connotations. Dry bones in one’s life could mean the feeling of depression, hopelessness, bitterness, failure and inability to pray or minister. It could also be a deadly and destructive condition that needs spiritual intervention. This could be a pointer to when we begin to feel dry in our spiritual lives. When such experiences are observed in a believer’s life, it shows that he or she has stepped into the condition of dry bones and needs spiritual revival.

If you are experiencing spiritual dryness at the moment, you can have your life renewed. No condition is too difficult for God to rectify. All you need do is speak the word of faith and His Spirit and power will cause revival to come upon you again. ever, when a person flaunts the commandments, he/she reaps the attendant consequences.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
If God created everything out of nothing, it’s easy for Him to give life to dry bones.
