FIRE SCRIPTURE: Exodus 2:4-8 (KJV)
And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

MFM Daily Devotional 23 March 2024 Message

In the next few days, we will be looking at the life of another Bible character, Miriam. We shall glean great life lessons that could enhance our walk with God from her life.
Who was Miriam? In which areas of life did she succeed and in which did she fail? These and more will be considered in the next few days.

Miriam was the eldest child of Amram and Jochebed. She was a big sister to both Aaron and Moses. As a little girl, Miriam was smart enough to know the happenings around her and was a quick thinker of what to do to contribute her quota to redeem her family from Pharaoh-sponsored trouble. Her baby brother had been born at a critical time when it was tragic to be born a male child. So, death was looming all over him.

Although Miriam was young, she was ready to go all out to avert the death sentence for Moses. When their mother had hidden baby Moses for three months and could not hide him any longer, she put him in an ark of bulrushes and brought him close to the Nile River. Miriam took the courage to stand by and watch how things unfolded.

When Pharaoh’s daughter came along, young Miriam courageously approached and gave her the suggestion that saved Moses’ life and that of an entire generation. She reunited Moses back to his family. It is noteworthy that approaching a heathen princess, especially by a Hebrew tiny girl, could not have been an easy task; but Miriam stepped out all the same. She didn’t just stand there watching life to take its course; she courageously took hold of life’s course and turned it in her favour. A closed mouth is a closed destiny. She opened her mouth wide, and it was filled. She asked and it was granted. What a courageous young damsel!

Beloved, it takes courage and faith to fulfil destiny. A lot of giants and obstacles will be on our ways to hinder, but victory is sure if only we can step out in faith to conquer our fears.
Has God given you a great mandate? Trust Him. Take that step today and you will see Him back you up.
