TOPIC: Becoming Like Christ

FIRE SCRIPTURE:  Matthew 16:21-27 
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES: it is near impossible to be genuinely Christ-like without earnestly desiring it.  You must WANT to be like Christ before you can BE like Christ.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: Receive the grace to become like Christ, in the name of Jesus.

MFM Daily Devotional 23 November 2023 MESSAGE

Jesus Christ said in John 8:12,…I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Christ lived His life before every man, nothing was hidden. He was transparent in all His dealings because He was the perfect example to all men, especially Christians. Everyone had to see Him to learn directly from Him.

He is the Bible that we carry about and read. If you study your Bible consistently, the life of Christ will begin to form in you and you will begin to manifest Him.

Also, Jesus promised His disciples that He would send them the Comforter when He left, to guide them into all truth. No man knows the ways of Christ, but He guides us and brings us into His way through the Blessed Holy Spirit.
Here are some practical steps to becoming like Christ.

  1. Be submissive and obedient to His commandments (Isaiah 1:19)
  2. Humble yourself before the Lord (Philippians 2:8)
  3. Love your neighbour as yourself (Ephesians 5:2).
  4. Walk in the Spirit. When you walk in the Spirit, no man can easily predict your next move. Doing so will also empower you not to walk in the flesh (Galatians 5:16). 
  5. Continue in well doing. Even when storms arise, do not stop doing the good service of God. Know that you are not working for man but God (Galatians 6:9).
  6. Carry your cross daily. As you fellowship with God’s spirit, He will keep revealing His way to you. Most times it is hard, but if you faithfully follow Him, you will flourish (Matthew 16:24).
  7. Read your Bible and pray every day.

In Joshua 1:8, God told Joshua to make sure that the book of the law does not depart out of his mouth; but he must meditate therein day and night, and make sure to observe all that is written in it, in order to prosper and have good success. Jesus also taught His disciples to pray and not faint.

When you master a life of daily fellowship with God in the word, prayer and obedience, you will become like God on earth. Nothing can stop you! Switch to the winning side today!

MORNING
1. I enter into the new life that Christ gave me by His death and resurrection, in the name of Jesus.
2. My soul, hear the word of the Lord, arise and praise the Lord, in the name of Jesus.
3. Spirit of Light, invade my heart, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Holy Spirit, teach me the way of Christ, in the name of Jesus.
5. Anything I love more than Jesus, be dissolved by the fire of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus.
6. O Lord, choose me as Your vessel, in the name of Jesus.
7. My life, carry God, in the name of Jesus.
