MFM Daily Devotional 24 February 2024 Message

Becoming born again is one of the greatest experiences you can ever have. However, it only marks the beginning of the journey of your new life in Christ. It also comes with some demands. One of them is that you (the saved soul) should proceed to become a disciple of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Besides, believers and the body of Christ as a whole owe it to God to disciple young converts and others who are yet to become disciples.

God’s command for global evangelism to every believer is to go, preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations. However, it takes a disciple to make others disciples. Are you a true disciple of Christ? Let us examine the hallmarks of true disciples of Jesus Christ.

MFM Daily Devotional 23 February 2024 – From Mockery To Miracle (II)

First, true disciples of Jesus take their cross and follow Him. In Luke 14:27, the Bible says, then Jesus said, “And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.” That is, they must be willing to endure hardship, persecution, execution and be willing to go with and for Christ wherever He leads or sends them. Second, true disciples remain in the Lord’s word.

A major hallmark of true disciples is that they take God’s word as the final authority and remain in it at all times and in all circumstances. What Jesus said to the Jews who believed in Him in John 8:31, He is saying to you today, “… If ye continue in my word, then ye are my disciples indeed.” Third, true disciples of Jesus love one another.

The Bible underscores this in John 13:35 when Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye love one to another.” We can fulfil this commandment of love by participating in others’ needs (Matthew 25:35; Romans 12:13), serving one another in love (Galatians 5:13) and by forgiving one another (Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13).

Fourth, true disciples of Jesus follow the Master’s instructions. In Acts 9:10-17, the Lord instructed his disciple Ananias to go to Saul of Tarsus and pray for him to receive his sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ananias carried out the Lord’s instruction to the letter.

I pray that the grace to become Christ’s true disciple will be yours as from today, in the name of Jesus.
