TOPIC: Say No to Ingratitude

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 17:11-19
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

MFM Daily Devotional 25 November 2023 MESSAGE

The Bible says that one of the signs of the last days is ingratitude. Many will become unthankful and ungrateful to parents and helpers. God wants His children to have an attitude of gratitude. There are so many things to give God thanks for; even when we cannot see them, we need to give Him thanks.

Many people think they deserve every kind gesture they get and do not bother to express gratitude. This is wrong. Every kind gesture deserves an attitude of gratitude in return. Some find it very difficult to say “thank you”. This habit is a trait of pride. There are some very simple courtesy words that should never be hard for you to say, whether you are young or old. The words: “please”, “sorry” and “thank you should be used frequently. These words go a long way when you say them to people. They release an atmosphere for you to receive more favour.

In our Bible study for today, Jesus Christ healed ten lepers. When one of them saw that he had been healed, he turned back and shouted at the top of his voice in gratitude to Jesus. Jesus asked of the other nine but they were nowhere to be found. The one that returned to say thank you became whole, meaning he was completely restored while the other nine remained healed, meaning they could fall sick again. See how much a simple thank you can give you. Some pray and fast for their testimony and once they receive it, they forget God; neither do they come to share their testimony in church. That is why the enemy comes back to reinforce against them.

Do not be ungrateful to anyone who has helped you, no matter how little. When you sleep and wake, thank God because many slept and could not wake up. For the food you eat that nourishes your body, thank God always and for the fact that you even have food to eat. Thank Him for the good and bad.

Thank Him because He has written your name in the Book of Life. Thank Him because He has not destined you to fail in life. Beloved, say no to ingratitude!
