MFM Daily Devotional 4 August 2023 MESSAGE

Yesterday, we established that God’s people enjoy divine protection and that heaven has made provisions to guarantee their security. We also looked at three of the ways God protects them. Today, we shall look at more of such ways and appropriate this divine privilege into our lives.

The fourth way that God protects His people is by keeping them under His wings. The Psalms metaphorically depict God as having wings, a symbol of protection, as a mother hen would gather chicks under her wings. Psalm 61:4 affirms this, “I will abide in thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings.” Beloved, I pray that God will hide you under the shelter of His wings and keep you safe from the enemy or predators, in the name of Jesus.

The fifth way God protects His beloved people is by putting them under His shield and in His refuge. The Psalmist boldly declared, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). I encourage you to make this faith-boosting declaration as well. You will have what you say! Psalm 91 is an assurance that God is the believer’s shield and refuge. The Psalmist also declared in Psalm 119:114 that God is his hiding place and his shield. As a New Testament believer, God is all these to you and more! God also protects His people by faith, as He did for Moses. By faith, Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment (Hebrews 11:23).

God protected and preserved Moses miraculously. He honoured the courageous trust that Moses’ parents demonstrated in His ability to protect their son. He protected the Israelites by (1) making them cross the Red Sea on dry ground-Exodus 14:13-31. (2) Providing water for them in the wilderness – Exodus 17:1-6. (3) Providing manna and quails for them-Exodus 16:1-35. (4) Defeating the Amalekites (their enemies) – Exodus 17:8-16. (5) Protecting them from snakes and diseases in the wilderness Numbers 21:4-9. Beloved, you are the apple of God’s eye. Your life is hidden in Christ with God!
