TOPIC: Why People Suffer from Financial Bondage (IV)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Chronicles 12; 2 Chronicles 13; 2 Chronicles 14; Mark 15, Mark 16

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 4:16-21
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

MFM Daily Devotional 6 May 2024 MESSAGE

Today, we shall round off our discussion on the reasons why people get into financial bondage. So far, we have shown that if we are obedient to the word of God, we can avoid being in financial bondage and crisis. Prevention is always better than cure. For those who are already in financial bondage, Jesus, who came to set the captives free, will deliver them today.

Let us look at more of what get people into financial bondage, as we conclude the discourse:

(26) Demonic gift used as capital for business. If the source of the capital for your business is not clean, you will experience poverty or financial distress. For example, if you collect money from your sugar daddy or sell your body in order to get money to start your business, the devil will put you in his financial cage.

(27) Unfaithfulness to a business partner. When you make it a habit to wheat your business partner, you are writing a letter to poverty.

(28) Mismanagement of funds. Some people make huge sums of money but they spend it with sybaritic indulgence. Wastefulness leads to poverty. In addition, people who mismanage or misappropriate money put in their custody also belong to this category. Such people will eventually land in financial bondage. As believers, God expects us to be faithful stewards of His money or other people’s money entrusted to our care. This was part of the points that Jesus made to the unjust servant in Luke 16:9-13.

In addition to the above, here are other factors that get people into financial bondage: (29) Spirit of death. When this spirit enters, no matter the amount of money the person is making, hospitals will collect everything.

(30) Living in a demonic house. Some houses are built on evil altars. Evil spirits traffic in them day and night. Some co-tenants are witches, occults, and sinners. Believers who live in such places will have real trouble contending with the forces of poverty and financial bondage. It is good to pray very well before you rent an apartment or to pray that God should bless you to build your own house.

Beloved, you can come out of financial bondage by praying militantly and with unwavering faith to the God of all possibilities who answers by fire.
