Topic: Are You Tried And Tested

Fire Scripture: Revelation 3:8-20

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

MFM Daily Devotional 7th August 2021 Saturday Outline:

What I want us to consider today is the fact that life is a school and that we write examinations from time to time. We all go through tests. Problems and challenges are compulsory examinations that we must write. There was a time that I had something to do and I employed three carpenters. I told myself that I was going to give them a test to see who would eventually do the work, I asked them how much they needed to do the work.

The first one said, N2, 500.00; the second one said N2, 500.00; and the third one, N2, 400.00. So I gave each one of them N3, 000.00. I wanted to know the honest one. Of course, two just said, “Thank you sir” and went away and never returned my balance. Only one of them came back and said, “Sorry sir, there was a mistake, the money was supposed to be N2, 500.00, but there was an extra N500.00; so I have brought the excess back.” I decided that he would be the permanent worker.

The others kept quiet and later started complaining that the one to whom I was giving jobs, was not good and that he was bad; he was this and that, whereas, they were the bad, unfaithful and undependable workers. In fact, they were thieves. So, sometimes when you think you are being clever, you cannot be smarter than the devil. Are you the kind of person who borrows from people and decides not to pay back? Some people keep their money in the bank.

At times, with N40,000.00 in their bank accounts they would be looking for somebody who would lend them N5,000.00. This is simply madness, because money has become an idol for such people. They are the money minded believers who won’t say: “I want to keep it there to yield interest.” Which interest? when the Bible says, “Owe no man.”Are you tried and tested? You must acquire gold that has been tried in the fire!

Memory Verse: Hosea 14:8 “Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.”

Motivational Quote: Whenever God speaks, he loads His words with power, decks it with honour and dignity and garnishes it with flavours that will keep you asking for more.

Prophetic Word: It is well with you.

HYMN: Come, Let Us Anew Our Journey Pursue

Come, let us anew our journey pursue, Roll round with the year, And never stand still till the Master appear, His adorable will let us gladly fulfil, And our talents improve, By the patience of hope, and the labour of love, By the patience of hope, and the labour of love. Our life is a dream; our time, as a stream, Glides swiftly away, And the fugitive moment refuses to stay, The arrow is flown, the moment is gone; The millennial year Rushes on to our view, and eternity’s here, Rushes on to our view, and eternity’s here. O that each in the day of His coming may say, “I have fought my way through; I have finished the work Thou didst give me to do!” O that each from his Lord may receive the glad word, “Well and faithfully done! Enter into My joy, and sit down on My throne!” “Enter into My joy, and sit down on My throne!”
