Topic: Who Is The Holy Spirit 1

Memory verse
John 14:26 – “But the comforter which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said into you.”

Fire Scripture
John 15:16-26

Apostle Paul, in one of his missionary journeys, asked the believers in Ephesus if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed (Acts 19:2). The answer would have shocked him, for they replied, “We have not so much heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.” If Paul was shocked, surely the Father and the Son were saddened because of the ignorance concerning the ministry of Holy Spirit.

As believers, we all need the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is therefore our responsibility to help others who do not have Him to receive Him. Who is the Holy Spirit? He is the third person of the God head whom the Father sent to indwell and guide believers. Many people claim to believe in the Holy Spirit, but actually they believe in God the Father and God the Son while they regard the Holy Spirit as the servant or errand boy.

This is not true because the Holy Spirit is equal and in no way inferior to God the Father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit is a living Person who must be addressed with the pronouns “He” and “Him” and not as “It”. The Bible uses personal pronouns in referring to the Holy Spirit. The word “He” was used in many places in the Gospel of John (John 16:13, John 16:14 and John 16:18).

So, in your dealing and addressing the Holy Spirit, address Him as a living person and not an ordinary force. He is a person because He possesses characteristics of a person. He has will power (1 Cor. 12:11), knowledge (1 Cor. 2:10-12) love (Rom. 15:30). He can speak, can cry out, can intercede etc. The Holy Spirit is your divine Helper and Comforter (Jn. 16:7).

The Holy Spirit is the giver of the seven perfect spirits listed in Isaiah 11:2. Ask Him and He will give you. These are spirits of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, the spirit of the Lord and the fear of the Lord. It is important to note that nobody can journey through life successfully and fulfill his destiny without the empowerment and help of the Holy Spirit.

You can receive the Holy Spirit by giving your life to Christ, forsaking sin and living a holy life, being obedient to God and His commandments always and by asking God to baptise you with His Spirit in prayer.

1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do

2. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until my will is one with Thine,
To do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Till I am wholly Thine,
Till all this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

But live with Thee the perfect life of
Thine eternity
