TOPIC:  Peace, Be Still!

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Mark 4:35-41
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

MFM Daily Devotional 8 March 2024 MESSAGE

In our Fire Scripture, we saw how a storm arose in the midst of the sea to disrupt the journey of Jesus and His disciples, hinder their assignment and distract them from focusing on their divine goals. Worse still, the storm was out to claim the lives of these agents of heaven and servants of God! The storm had a spiritual backing and was having physical manifestation. When Jesus’ disciples could not handle it, they called on the Master who was asleep at the time. The command that Jesus issued to stop the storm and bring calm is the topic of our devotional today. Beloved, God wants you to exercise your authority, issue commands and enforce your dominion as Jesus did here.

The storms of life have no respect for your gender, status, nationality, age and so on. A storm is any negative or unpleasant occurrence that the enemy orchestrates to destabilise you, steal from you, kill you or destroy all that are valuable to you. What happened to Job was a storm and the devil was behind it. No storm comes from the devil with any good intention. However, when God permits it, He uses it for the good of His children.

Storms have done a lot of damage in the lives of many people. Not all who experienced life’s storm were fortunate to come out of it alive. A storm represents crisis and you must bring Christ into your crisis and storm if you want to survive and overcome it. That was exactly what Jesus’ disciples did. They tried but could not still the storm. They called on Jesus Christ, the Lord of all. Beloved, Jesus is alive and with you now as He was in His earthly ministry. His power still saves to the uttermost. He is still in the business of stilling storms for His children.

Are you faced with a ravaging storm today? Perhaps the storm you are battling are even multiple and you are overwhelmed: marital storm, career storm, financial storm or even ministerial storm. The most important step you need to take to is to be born again. Once you settle that, open your mouth and call on Jesus Christ, the Master over storms. He will answer you and your joy will be full.
