MFM Daily Devotional 9 October 2022 OUTLINE

Having or seeing a crowd is not uncommon in our world, especially in the metropolis. Physically, the crowd limits your moving forward, reduces your speed or totally prevents you from reaching your goal in good time. As it is in the physical so it is in the spiritual.

At the time of Jesus, some people could have lost their divine opportunities because they couldn’t push through the crowd. The sick man in our Fire Scripture would have missed out being healed by Jesus, if his friends did not persist through the crowd, even to the point of lowering him done through the roof. What ingenuity and uncommon wisdom! Standing out in the crowd comes with a price, and at times a sacrifice. These include making personal efforts to break free and break through the crowd.

In the crowd, you hear the voices of dissension, counsels and persuasive talks that do not favour your life and destiny, neither in agreement with God’s word. There is the spirit of compromise and unholy conformity in the crowd. Decide to stand out beloved, and be on the Lord’s side. Blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46-52, would not have received his sight if he has listened to the crowd. The Bible says he shouted the more, louder than each rebuke to silence him.

At last, Jesus heard him, he attended to his case and he regained his sight. Let Jesus attend to your case today and settle you, in the name of Jesus. Not everyone in the crowd is a peace seeker. Each person has his or her reasons for being in the crowd. Why then should you as a child of God be found in the mixed multitude. Jesus calls His children out of the crowd in 2 Cor 6: 17, “Be ye separate”.

Even in the crowd of believers, people are there with different reasons and agenda, decide to do the needful without hindrance. The disciples of Jesus were called forth from a group of persons. It is a thing of value when you recognise your uniqueness. It becomes easier to fulfil divine purpose when you’re set apart for the Lord.

Evil communication, the Bible says, corrupts good manners. You must choose to walk wisely and in accordance with the word of God. In fact, we are called to peaceful and harmonious relationships as believers in Christ, at the same time, you should move and relate with destiny promoters and not demoters.

God singles out his servants by calling them out of the busy crowd to the assignment He has for them. If not, they risk falling into distractions. Bottom line: Beware of the crowd!
