The Christ Gospel Radio: For those who haven’t heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Happiness: My name is Happiness Ajuma Atodo. I go by the stage name Happiness (country gal). I am a country gospel music minister. In fact, the only female country singer in Nigeria. Aside from music, I am a businesswoman, motivational speaker, and humanitarian.

The Christ Gospel Radio: Share with our fans the story behind your Salvation.

Happiness: I got born again at the age of 13years after listening to a message about Romans 8:1. Ever then, God has been faithful.

The Christ Gospel Radio: being born again at the age of 13, how do you continue to deepen your relationship with Jesus?

Happiness: By studying the word of God. It has been the source of my strength.

The Christ Gospel Radio: what got you into the Country gospel genre

Happiness: Country music is a genre of music that sinks into the Soul when you listen to it, the feelings and music is medicine to the soul. When life gives me reasons to feel downcast, I listen to inspirational songs and it has helped me in life.

The Christ Gospel Radio: how do you feel being the only country gospel singer in the country?

Happiness: Female… there are other male country singers.

I feel really good honestly. The genre is dominated mostly by men

The Christ Gospel Radio: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music

Happiness: Nothing that I am not doing already.

The Christ Gospel Radio: please expatiate

Happiness: I am doing mostly everything I have always wanted to do

The Christ Gospel Radio: Who inspired you to make music?

Happiness: No one holds the monopoly on that. I get inspired by different people. Words move me in songs. I love songs by people like Don Williams, Dolly Parton, and Kenny Rodgers.

The Christ Gospel Radio: do you have a role model in the gospel scene music industry

Happiness: Yes. Dolly Parton, Don Williams

The Christ Gospel Radio: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Happiness: Internet age. Reaching out to people has been made easier with the internet. People from different places have put a call across to me after listening to my Songs. All thanks to the internet

The Christ Gospel Radio: What is your favourite song to perform?

Happiness: Every song of mine has its uniqueness and message. The occasion also determines what I perform.

The Christ Gospel Radio:  Out of all your songs, what is your favourite to perform

Happiness: Take all the glory.

The Christ Gospel Radio: is that your favourite song to perform?

Happiness: Yes

The Christ Gospel Radio: Which famous musicians do you admire?

Happiness: Don Williams, Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton

The Christ Gospel Radio: What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Happiness: Life itself is full of troubles. I can’t really point at any.

The Christ Gospel Radio: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Happiness: Wow…. (ibe ibe) in my dialect by my father. It means careful, careful. He always says life is one step at a time. That has helped me a lot. Am in no competition with anyone. If you get there before me congratulations.

The Christ Gospel Radio: If you could change anything about gospel music industry, what would it be?

Happiness: Gospel ministers that are yet to make “big names” in the industry should be given the opportunity to grow. A lot of talents are wasting. Churches invite big names when they have members with talents but no opportunity.

The Christ Gospel Radio: What was your worst performance? there are times that the microphone malfunction, the speaker not great, the mixer messing up, and at the end of the day you can’t relay your message if the mic or speaker is not in sync with your message this can be classified as a bad performance that’s my opinion

Happiness: I have been fortunate not to encounter any of such.

The Christ Gospel Radio: What was your best performance?

Happiness: Every performance has its glory. But on this day, I was singing come to Jesus it was spirit filled. People actually got the message and came out for an altar call. It was wonderful

The Christ Gospel Radio: What would you say is your greatest weakness as an artist?

Happiness: Am a lazy artist (smiles) I don’t like stress. Thank God for my genre of music is cool, mild, stress-free but powerful

Happiness: Dolly Parton

The Christ Gospel Radio: What is one message you would give to your fans?

Happiness: There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a song titled same.

The Christ Gospel Radio: What is the most useless talent you have?

Happiness: None. A talent is a gift from God. Nothing useless comes from him. I utilise all the talents I discover about myself.

The Christ Gospel Radio: What advise do you have for upcoming s and independent artists?

Happiness: Be focused.

The Christ Gospel Radio: What should we expect from you in the nearest future music?

Happiness: A lot. I hope to create a brand for myself. Am already creating. Country music is a genre of music predominantly occupied by men. People should expect more powerful and spirit-filled messages in my songs …
